FUNDRAISING NEWS

2010-2011 Fundraising information will be posted as soon as it is available.

2009-20010 Fundraising Information

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE FANNIE MAY FUNDRAISER!

In February 2010, $4532.09 in Fannie May candy was sold with an additional $1.79 in parent donations received.
In total, 30% in profit, or $1361.42 was raised to fund various Westbrook School programs and initiatives!

To date, we’ve raised over $4200.00 to fund Westbrook School programs and initiatives in 2009-10!
Thanks again to generous parent and staff donations, proceeds from purchases at Greenraising.com, purchases at eScrip’s merchant partner locations and profits from fall “Yankee Candle” and “That’s My Pan” sales and Winter “Fannie May”  sales.

Thanks again to all the wonderful Westbrook School staff and parent volunteers that have facilitated fundraising in 2009-10, assisting with promotion, order entry and/ or order distribution: Jan Ewing, Gail Kaczynski, Jill Orze, Laura Ryndak, Lisa Britos, Ashley Connor, Samantha Funovits, Kim Grana, Christine Green, Lisa Kavanagh, Carrie Monteleone and Julie Moreth.

WHAT IS DONE WITH THE MONEY RAISED?

Here are some of the things that the Westbrook School PTA has done in the past with money raised:

SPONSORED EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL EVENTS such as a science night, a cultural event assembly, art gallery walks, an author visit, a dance party and a movie night.

SUPPORTED VARIOUS PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES such as CHARACTERCOUNTS!, the highly successful character development and ethics education program and helping hands, a program that assists Westbrook families in need or facing a crisis.

CREATED THE SCHOOL DIRECTORY, YEARBOOK AND PTA DISPLAYS with help, input and/ or pictures supplied by school staff, parent volunteers and committee members.

PURCHASED ITEMS FOR CHILDREN such as classroom supplies for holiday parties, birthday books to promote literacy, school workbooks to encourage learning over the summer and t-shirts to foster sense of community.

PROVIDED “BACK TO SCHOOL” ITEMS FOR SALE as a cost-effective and convenient alternative for parents purchasing school supply packs and spiritwear.

PURCHASED ITEMS FOR THE SCHOOL including a wall art mural and audio equipment that effectively upgraded the school’s sound system.

Additionally, the PTA plans this in 2010:

SUPPORT THE SCHOOL’S CONSERVATION AND WASTE RECYCLING EFFORTS by promoting and funding various environmental initiatives and programs to reduce and recycle waste.
