Dear Westbrook Families,

I have had the great pleasure of working with the Education Foundation as an administrative representative this school year. Led by a devoted group of District 57 parents, the Ed Foundation’s mission is to enhance the education of District 57 students by generating and allocating resources through partnerships with businesses, the local community, school administration, teachers, parents, students and alumni. Westbrook School has received significant donations from the Ed Foundation, including: our beautiful library mural, playground & gym equipment, personal listening devices for students, and guided reading books, just to name a few. The Ed Foundation’s Spring Event, Come Together, is on Saturday, February 25 from 6p.m.-12:30 a.m. at The Meadows Club in Rolling Meadows. There are many ways to be a part of this special evening: you can sponsor a table, come for dinner, or come for just the “late night” ticket. I encourage you to learn more about the Ed Foundation on their website, www.57edfoundation.org or by following them on Facebook.

Kind regards,

Mary Kalogeropoulos, Principal

Hi Westbrook Parents,

Good afternoon! The attached survey is intended to collect information from our parents about how our students travel to and from school, what barriers there are to walking or biking to and from school, and your attitudes about walking and biking to school. Only one survey should be filled out per household for Westbrook and will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Please note that if you have a child at a different District 57 school (i.e. Fairview, Lions Park, or Lincoln) their barriers may be different and we would appreciate a separate survey conveying those thoughts. Please look for each school’s survey link in an email.

The local Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs may be particularly interested in this information because it can be used to help identify issues that need to be addressed to improve their SRTS activities. Information from parents might also identify unexpected opportunities to increase walking or biking to school.

Below is the link to the Westbrook survey. Please complete this survey by February 2, 2012.
